VI. Deacon Joel Hyde (980), born at Norwich, Conn., 23 March, 1764, eldest son of Asa Hyde (214) and Lucy French of Norwich, was a great grandson of John Hyde (5) of the third generation. He m. 6 Nov., 1791, Mary Belcher, b. 20 June, 1769, daughter of William Belcher and Desire Morgan of Preston, Conn. He was a cabinet-
maker and a farmer, and was a soldier in the army of the revolution. They settled at Preston, and in 1810, removed to Lisbon, where she d. 23 June, 1842. He d. 24 Jan., 1853, at Lisbon.

3330. William Albert, b. 25 June, 1805, at Preston. He graduated at Amherst college, 1829, and at Andover Theological Seminary in 1832, and was a Congregational clergyman. He m. 18 Aug., 1834, Martha W. Sackett, b. 6 April, 1816, at
Greenwich, Conn., daughter of Justus Sackett and Clarissa Belcher of Gr. He was ordained as pastor of the church at Yorktown, N. Y., 2 Jan., 1833, and was settled as pastor of the church at Westbrook, Conn., in June, 1838, and at Greenwich, Conn., in Oct., 1854. His wife was an adopted
daughter of Dr. Henry White of Yorktown, N. Y. They were living at GreenAvich in 1858, and had eight children, all except the two first, born at Westbrook:
1. Mary Belcher, b. 30 Oct., 1835, at Yorktown. She m. Dr. Daniel Albert Patten, b. 25 May, 1823, fourth son of David Patten and Frances Dodge of Salem, Conn. He was a physician, and practiced a few years in Maryland. They were living at Salem in 1858.
2. William Henry, b. 8 July, 1837, at Yorktown. He
was a traveling ambrotypist in 1858, unm.
3. Joel Wilbur, b. 20 March, 1839. He was a student at Yale in 1858. 4. Albert Abbott, b. 23 June, 1842. 5. John Krinne, b. 25 June, 1844. 6. Elisha Belcher, b. 20 Feb., 1846. 7. Lyman Munson, b. 15 Dec, 1848. 8. Gertrude Elizabeth, b. 30 June, 1851.
