1721-g. JOHN BENJAMIN SACKETT, so of Ezekiel & Elizabeth (Woodward) Sackett, b. Feb. 8, 1821 in New York State; came to Redford, Wayne Co., Mich. with his parents; married April 3, 1839 at Redford, by Alvah Stockwell, J.P. to Diantha Hutchinson, dau. of Abram & Alymyra Hutchinson; born 1823. Mr. Sackett served as Wayne County Auditor for many years. He died Dec. 28, 1868 at the age of 47 years; his widow, July 12, 1891 and both are buried in the Bell Branch Cemetery, Redford. Their children were:-
(1) Caroline Sackett, Almyra. July 1, 1841, Redford; d. Jan. 8, 1917 (Bell Branch Cem.) She never married.
(2) Maria M. Sackett, b. Aug. 13, 1842, Redford; d. May 20. 1914, Willow Mich.; m. Dec. 25, 1864, Redford, by Rev. Thomas Shaftoe, to Avery Jehiel Chillson, son of Benjamin & Harriet (Bryan) Chillson, b. Dec. 27, 1839 in Livonia township; d. Feb. 27, 1925, Wayne, Mich. They are buried in Livonia Center Cemetery. He changed the spelling of his name to Chilson. Mr. & Mrs. Chilson always resided in Wayne Co. with the exception of a few years spent in Livingston Co. They resided about 5 miles west of Brighton, community today bearing the name of Chilson.
