CAULEY, John H. "Jack", age 92, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2015. He was in his 93rd year, born on June 26, 1922 to Henry and Mary Lou Cauley in Pontiac, MI.
He graduated from General Motors Institute as an engineer, and served in the US Navy during World War II. Jack was the founder and former owner of Jack Cauley Chevrolet. Being with his family, especially in northern Michigan, was Jack's favorite way to spend his time. He loved nature, being in the woods Up North, and he cherished the time he had at the Cauley Tamarack Lodge on the South Branch of the Au Sable River. He also had a passion for bicycling and kayaking, which he even did on Lake Superior, a body of water for which he had great "awe". Always one to try new experiences, Jack loved to travel the world. His travels brought him to Ireland where he treasured being able to connect with his new found Irish relatives.
Jack and his wife, Dorothy, were charter members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Troy. They were involved in the parish in many ways over the years. He lived his life with the greatest integrity and he always treated people the right way, and made many deep connections with people throughout his life. He will always be remembered for the strong handshake he continuously extended. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy for 72 years; loving father of John (Anne), Jean White (Larry), Gregory (Terri), Carol Stewart (Michael), Jeffrey (the late Susan), and the late George and James (Judy); devoted grandfather of eleven and great-grandfather of five.
