      Wedding Event Of Sept. 12th

      A large number of relatives and friends were present Saturday, Sept. 12, for the wedding of Judith Ann HardenbrooK, dauugnter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hardenbrook of Roseburg, and Richard Delano Drake, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Drake of Dillard. The double ring ceremony took place at 8 p.m. at the Dillard-Winston Methodist Church, the Rev. William O. Walker officiating.

      Orchids and white dahlias in large floor baskets were used in the decorations. Ellis Vance, soloist, sang "Because" and "The' Wedding Prayer."

      The bride was escorted to the altar by her father, she was lovely in her full-length wedding gown of white lace and net. She carried a white orchid on a white Bible.

      Beverly Butts of Tenmile was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Spangler of Idaho and Patsy Hardenbrook, sister of the bride. They wore princess-style dresses of taffeta and nylon and wristlets or wnue carnations. Flower girl Sandy Jacobs of Winston, cousin of the bridegroom, wore blue nylon on taffeta and carried white carnations.

      Chester Spangler of Idaho was best man. Ushering was done by Gary Hardenbrook, brother of the bride, and Eddie Drake, the bridegroom's brother. David Butts of Tenmile was ring bearer.

      The young people were feted at reception following the ceremony, then left for a honeymoon to Ashland. For going away the bride wore a wool lavender suit with an orchid corsage.

      The bride and bridegroom both attended Douglas High School. She is employed as a bookkeeper at Douglas County State Bank. Mr. Drake works for Round Prairie Lumber.

      Richard Delano (Del) Drake was born on Jan. 31, 1941, in Sayre, Oklahoma, and passed away on Nov. 6, 2021, at the age of 80. He grew up in Dillard, Oregon, and graduated from Douglas High School in 1959. In September 1959 he married Judy Hardenbrook, in 1988 married Mary Rose and in 1992 married Audrey Clark.

      Del had many hobbies including team roping, trap and skeet shooting. In 2001 he won the State Master Skeet Shoot in three different gauges. His love for the outdoors inspired many hunting trips, but his passion was salmon fishing on the Coquille River. Del was always looking to take someone to share a trip with! He owned several local restaurants over the years. Del spent many hours playing cards and enjoying coffee with friends.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, George Richard and Adel Drake, his sister Kathy Thomas, and he was followed in death by Audrey Drake 10 days after he left us. He is survived by his brother Eddy (Donna), sons Trent (Christine) Drake, Eric (Heidi) Drake; his stepchildren Allison (Joel) Lira, and Andrew (Anita) Clark; his grandchildren Aaron, Garrett, Elise, Maya, Amanda and Alicia; and his great-granddaughter Lillian.

      In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center of Roseburg.

      A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2022, at the Foursquare Gospel Center, 540 SE Main St, in Winston, Oregon.
