Nancy Nancy Boyum?s earthly journey ended on December 4, 2020 as a result of complications of pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully at home with her family at her side. Nancy was born on September 20, 1951 in Philadelphia and was raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Lois Tomlinson; a brother, Will; and sister, Jane. Nancy attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1975 from the College of Pharmacy. She worked in both retail and hospital pharmacies and also worked as a sales representative for Merck. Nancy married Dr. G. Peter Boyum in Stillwater in 1985. They raised their two children, Andrew and Holly, in their Stillwater home. Peter, Andrew and Holly all survive Nancy. Nancy was never hesitant about speaking her mind and was blessed with a rapier sharp wit. Nancy had a great intellect and curiosity. She was a voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction and was never without a book to read. Nancy?s main hobby was fabricating intricate and beautiful beaded jewelry. She attended numerous beading seminars and became extremely proficient at this art form. She made many beautiful pieces which she gifted to friends. Though trained as a scientist, Nancy very much depended on her heart, emotions and intuition in her decision making. She had enormous compassion for others and would drop everything to attend to a friend who might be sick or injured. She was fiercely loyal and generous to a fault when her friends were concerned. Among her likes were the Virgin Islands, Barbra Streisand and fiction characters Harry Bosch, Joe Pike and Gabriel Allon. She loved her Stillwater home and chose to spend her last week there. Her friend and neighbor, Danielle, introduced her to Vueve Clicqout which they enjoyed together. Thanks to the staff of Lakeview Hospital Hospice and Home Care. They were wonderful in a time of need for Nancy and her family. Special thanks to Drs. Gene Stringer and Todd Hess for the compassionate care they gave Nancy for many years. No service is planned at this time because of the Covid-19 restrictions. Memorials may be sent to the Woodbury Animal Humane Society shelter where Nancy got all of her pets.
