- Capt. Isaac Baldwin,the father-in-law of Hannah Sackett (De Lancey) Baldwin, was graduated at Yale College, in 1735, and for nearly half a century was a prominent lawyer at Litchfield, Conn. For many years he was a magistrate, represented his town in the Connecticut Legislature, and was first a Lieutenant and then Captain of the Litchfield Company of Militia. His paternal ancestor, the founder of the family in America, was Joseph Baldwin, colonist, who settled at Milford, Conn.,in 1639. [Weygant, p. 93]
