James T. Hutson, 71
PORTLAND. Ind. -- James T. Hutson, 71, 1001 N. Benhawkins St, died Thursday in Jay County Hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Jay County, he was retired from Teledyne Portland Forge, where he worked more than 35 years.
He was a member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 1620.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Bailey Hutson; a daughter, Linda (Mrs. Doyle) Beer, Geneva; three grandsons; a sister, Erma Davidson, Portland, and a foster brother, Frank Stephens, Portland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, west of Portland.
Calling hours are after 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Linda Lou Beer, age 69 passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on November 3, 2020 due to an active battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Born April 19, 1951 in Portland, Indiana to James Thomas and Sarah Katherine (Katy) Hutson, Linda now unites with her parents and brother, Robert Alan. Linda married her longtime friend and love, Doyle L. Beer, on May 10th, 1969. Both natives to Indiana joined in holy matrimony officiated by her uncle Vaughn Bailey in Pennville, IN. The couple called Geneva Indiana their home, where they started their lives together to raise their family.
Linda had a much fulfilled ?small town? lifestyle which was made up of many wonderful friends. It is only fitting that Linda?s life ends, where not so long ago it all began with her babysitting career caring for families and their children, as well as her own. It suited her servant heart! Later, with her kids in school, she managed a career outside the house for many years; sewer and seamstress, office and church cleaner, and various other jobs at times.
Linda spent valuable time on earth trying to live up to the principals that matter most. Always keep your promises, love family and friends, and never lose sight of what?s right in God?s eyes!
