MISS EWERETTA C. WHITNEY.
Miss Eweretta Constable Whitney, an aunt of Magistrate Frederic Kernochan, died yesterday at her home, No. 11 East 25th street, after a brief illness from pneumonia. She was sixty-five years old, and was the daughter of William Whitney and granddaughter of Stephen Whitney. For the last twenty-five years she had been a director of the New York Orthopedic Society. She attended Grace Church, where her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock.

Enlisted, May 25, 1898, at Camp Hasting, PA, in Battery A Pennsylvania Light Artillery ( formerly the Keystone Battery ). Battery A was assigned to guard the shipyards at Newport News, VA. The Battery shipped out from Newport for Puerto Rico, August 5, 1898, aboard the transport Manitoba, landing at Ponce, PR, August 10, 1898. Battery A was assigned a position 2 miles north of Ponce till ordered home, aboard the transport Mississippi, docking at Jersey City, NJ, September 10, 1898.
Battery A, Pennsylvania Light Artillery, was part of the Philadelphia Peace Jubilee, October 25 - 28, 1898. He was mustered out of volunteer service November 20, 1898.
Enlisted, May 25, 1899, in Troop 1, Squadron A, New York City. He saw field service with Squadron A during the Croton Dam Strike, August 1900. Discharged from Squadron A, May 27, 1904.
His brother Whitney and cousins Walton O. Kernochan and Stephen Suydam Whitney also served in Squadron A.
Commissioned, 1st Lieutenant, August 23, 1904, assigned to the 12th NY Infantry Regiment, New York City, as Battalion Quartermaster. Served in the 12th NY Regiment till December 1908.

JUSTICE KERNOCHAN DIES OF PNEUMONIA IN NEW YORK
Head of Court of Special Sessions Succumb at 60, After Brief Illness.
TUXEDO, N. Y., Jan. 9.--Frederic Kernochan, Chief Justice of New York's Court of Special Sessions, died tonight at 11:35 o'clock in Tuxedo Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since last Sun day, suffering with pneumonia.
He was 60 years old.
His widow and two daughters, Mrs. Crawford Blagden Jr., and Miss Virginia Kernochan, were at his bedside. He had been Chief Justice of the Court since 1916 when Mayer John Purroy Mitchel, appointed him.
Justice Kernochan was a close friend of President Roosevelt, was with him on a Southern tour after his election, and was seated beside him when Guiseppe Zangara attempted to shoot the President in Miami, Fla.
