      Richard Liptak

      Richard Liptak STREATOR Richard D. "Rick" "Lippy" Liptak, 51, of 412 S. Otter Creek Road, Streator, died at 3:49 a.m. Friday (Dec. 22, 2006) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Streator Fire Department. The Rev. Mark Upchurch of Central Church of Christ will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home in Streator. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

      Born Nov. 28, 1955, in Streator, Rick was the son of Donald J. and Mary M. (Decker) Liptak. He married Leann Morton on Nov. 19, 1977, at Central Church of Christ in Streator. Leann survives in Streator.

      Also surviving are his two daughters, Cory (David) Kreitzer of Normal and Mandy Liptak of Lincoln; his precious granddaughter, Madelyn Kreitzer; his father, Donald J. Liptak of Streator; brothers, Gary Liptak of Lancaster, Texas, and Jim (Ralene) Liptak of Crandall, Texas; a brother-in-law, Rob (Tina) Keen of Streator; a sister-in-law, Irene Cripe of Streator; and a father- and-mother-in-law, Robert and Shirlye Keen of Streator. There are also nieces and nephews surviving.

      He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary M. Liptak.

      Born and raised in Streator, he attended St. Stephen's Grade School and graduated from Streator High School, Class of 1973. He later attended the Illinois Fire Service Institute. Rick served as a captain on the Streator Fire Department where he worked for more than 18 years. He retired in September.

      He was a member of the Central Church of Christ, Lazy Acres Sportsman's Club and formerly a member of the Streator Eagles Club. Rick lived life to its fullest with his family and friends and always carried a sense of humor and memorable character. He treasured years of playing and coaching softball, baseball and golf with the church and city leagues. Rick also enjoyed winning Texas Hold 'Em tournaments and dreaming of being on the World Poker Tour. His stories, jokes, good-natured personality, generosity and outgoing spirit will be remembered and loved by many.

      Pallbearers will be Rick Cripe, Andy Minkus, Randy Hart, Jeff Clift, Todti Galyen, Art Johnson, Dave Sweeden and Bob Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Streator Fire Department.

      Memorials may be directed to Northwestern University Division of Organ Transplantation (Gaiter 17-200, 675 N. St. Clair, Chicago, IL 60611) out of gratitude for the work toward his successful liver transplant.

      Mary Liptak
      1930-1998

      Mary M. Liptak, 67, of 916 E. 12th St., died at 7:22 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital.

      Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen's Church. Mon-signor Peter Bolerasky will officiate.

      Music will be provided by St. Stephen's Grade School Choir under the direction of JoAnn Cave.

      Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Monclova will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Ham, Paul Missel, Lester Gaff, Albert Palko, Erman Durbin and Bill Quay.

      Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

      Born May 26, 1930, in Streator, she was the daughter of Ray and Eva (Sauers) Decker Sr. She married Donald Liptak on June 23, 1951, at Immaculate Conception Church. He survives.

      Also surviving are sons, Gary Liptak of Lancaster, Texas, Rick (Leann) Liptak of Streator and James (Ralene) Liptak of Crandall, Texas; four grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Gerlaine) Decker of Streator and John Frederick Decker; a sister, Karen (Mrs. Andrew) Adamchak of Streator; and several nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Donald Decker and a sister, Maxine Hritz.

      She attended St. Mary's Grade School and Streator Township High School. She was employed by the Lipton Tea Company, Osborn Grocery and B & R Grocery for many years.

      She was a member of St. Stephen's Church, the Eagles Auxiliary, and the Streator Women's Greater Bowling League for over 30 years.

      Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.

      Donald J. Liptak, 95, of Streator passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

      Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

      Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

      Burial will be in St. Stephen?s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be, Kyle Liptak, Greg Palko, Dago Gall and Rob Keen. Full military rites will be accorded by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

      Born March 5, 1924 in Streator he was the son of Leo and Josephine (Kohan) Liptak. He married Mary Decker on June 23, 1951. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1998.

      He is survived by his son, Jim (Ralene) Liptak of Crandall, Texas; a daughter in law, Leann Liptak of Streator; grandchildren, Cory (David) Kreitzer of Normal, Mandy (Scott) Rick of Louisville, Kentucky, Kyle (Morgan) Liptak of Texas and Miranda (Clay) Coker of Texas; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sons, Rick and Gary Liptak; brothers, Lawrence and Manley Liptak; and a sister, Lucille Palko.

      Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator schools and Streator High School.

      He served in the United States Army during WW II.

      He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for many years until his retirement.

      He was a member of the former St. Stephen?s Church. He was also a member of the Streator Eagles Club, Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 217.
