      Eva Strutynski
      1903-1985

      Eva (Decker) Strutynski, 81, of 410 N. Jefferson St., died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home.

      Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

      Visitation is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

      Born April 19, 1903, in Streator, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Willems) Sauers. She married Ray Decker, who died Nov. 2, 1947. She later married Joseph Strutynski, who died Dec. 22, 1973.

      Surviving are three sons, Robert Donald Decker and Raymond Decker, both of Streator, and John Fredrick Decker of Boston, Mass.; three daughters, Maxine (Mrs. Edwin) Hritz, Mary (Mrs. Donald) Liptak and Karen (Mrs. Andrew) Adamchak, all of Streator; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl Sauers and Raymond Sauers, both of Streator.

      She was preceded in death by four brothers, Nick, John, Bill and Frank Sauers, and four sisters, Mary Price, Kate James, Justina Hart and Margaret Mayerchin.

      Mrs. Strutynski resided in Streator all of her life.

      Donald J. Liptak, 95, of Streator passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

      Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

      Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

      Burial will be in St. Stephen?s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be, Kyle Liptak, Greg Palko, Dago Gall and Rob Keen. Full military rites will be accorded by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

      Born March 5, 1924 in Streator he was the son of Leo and Josephine (Kohan) Liptak. He married Mary Decker on June 23, 1951. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1998.

      He is survived by his son, Jim (Ralene) Liptak of Crandall, Texas; a daughter in law, Leann Liptak of Streator; grandchildren, Cory (David) Kreitzer of Normal, Mandy (Scott) Rick of Louisville, Kentucky, Kyle (Morgan) Liptak of Texas and Miranda (Clay) Coker of Texas; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sons, Rick and Gary Liptak; brothers, Lawrence and Manley Liptak; and a sister, Lucille Palko.

      Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator schools and Streator High School.

      He served in the United States Army during WW II.

      He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for many years until his retirement.

      He was a member of the former St. Stephen?s Church. He was also a member of the Streator Eagles Club, Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 217.

      Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor?s choice.

      J.Strutynski

      Joseph Strytynski, 64, 510 Sangamon, succumbed at 8:50 a.m., today in St. Mary's hospital. He had been in ill health the past five weeks.

      Visitation will be at Liptak funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m., Sunday. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

      Mass of christian burial will be Monday at 9:30 a.m., from St Stephen's church. Burial will be in St. Stephen's cemetery.

      Born in Poland, Aug. 15, 1909, he was son of Peter and Theresa Strytynski. He married Eva Sauer, Jan. 5, 1950 at St. Stephen's church.

      She survives with three stepdaughters, Mrs. Edward (Maxine) Hritz, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Liptak and Mrs. Andrew (Karen) Adamchak, all of Streator; three step-sons: Robert Donald Decker, Chickasha, Okla.; Raymond Decker, Streator; and John Decker, Boston, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; a great grandchild; a brother, Walter, Oakbrook and a sister, Mrs. Bernice Micekis, Homewood.

      Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother a sister, and his first wife, Betty Pohlod in 1947.

      Mr. Strutynski resided in streator the past 35 years moving here from Chicago. He retired from Anthony company in 1971. He was a member of St Stephen's church.

      Josephine Liptak

      Mrs. Leo (Josephine) Liptak, 88, S16 Hoyne St.. died in Si Mary's Hospital at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, after being a patient for the past 10 days.

      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stephen's Church, with Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the old St Stephen's Cemetery.

      Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today in the Solon Funeral Home, with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m.

      Mrs Liptak was born Sept. 30, 1893, in Poland, to the late Urban and Rose (Mihalczyk) Kohan. The former Josephine Kohan and Leo Liptak were married Aug. 27. 1912, at St Stephen's Church, with the late Monsignor Louis Biskupski officiating. He died Feb 3, 1965.

      Mrs. Liptak had resided in Streator since 1904, moving here from Poland. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church and the St. Mary's Lodge.

      Surviving are three sons, Manley Liptak, Lawrence Liptak and Donald Liptak, all of this city, one daughter. Mrs Albert (Lucille) Palko, Streator, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, three sisters, Ann Mijou, Chicago, Julia Green, Streator, and Frances Taggart, Kankakee; two brothers, Leon Kohan, Kankakee, and Joseph Kohan, Mattoon.

      Preceding her in death were one daughter, Leona, and one son, Edward Liptak; four brothers, Benjamin, Matthew. John and Harry Kohan; one sister, Margaret McGurk.

      Catherine Hritz

      Catherine Maxine Hritz, 73, of 1603 S Bloomington St., died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 1997, at her home.

      Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Hagi Funeral Home.

      Burial will be in Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Streator. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rick Liptak, David Decker, Mike Sliker, Andrew and Joe Adamchak, James Stinar and Laddie Vryl.

      The final visitation will be held at 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the funeral home. A dinner reception will follow.

      Music will be provided by organist Doris Spear, who will play "Always," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Danny Boy."

      Born Sept. 13, 1923, in Streator, she was the daughter of Raymond and Eva (Sauers) Decker. She married Edwin Hritz on Sept. 13, 1948, in Princeton. He died Mar. 30, 1978.

      She is survived by a son, Michael Hritz of Streator; a daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Robert) Gallaher of Beach Park; a grandson, Brian Gallaher; a brother, Raymond (Gerilaine) Decker of Streator; and sisters, Karen (Mrs. Andrew) Adamchak and Mary (Mrs. Donald) Liptak, both of Streator.

      She was preceded in death by her step-father, Joseph Strustinski, and two brothers.

      She attended St. Mary's Grade School and Streator Township High School graduate. She was employed by Thatcher's Glass for many years until her retirement.

      She was a member of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary.

      Richard Liptak

      Richard Liptak STREATOR Richard D. "Rick" "Lippy" Liptak, 51, of 412 S. Otter Creek Road, Streator, died at 3:49 a.m. Friday (Dec. 22, 2006) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Streator Fire Department. The Rev. Mark Upchurch of Central Church of Christ will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home in Streator. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

      Born Nov. 28, 1955, in Streator, Rick was the son of Donald J. and Mary M. (Decker) Liptak. He married Leann Morton on Nov. 19, 1977, at Central Church of Christ in Streator. Leann survives in Streator.

      Also surviving are his two daughters, Cory (David) Kreitzer of Normal and Mandy Liptak of Lincoln; his precious granddaughter, Madelyn Kreitzer; his father, Donald J. Liptak of Streator; brothers, Gary Liptak of Lancaster, Texas, and Jim (Ralene) Liptak of Crandall, Texas; a brother-in-law, Rob (Tina) Keen of Streator; a sister-in-law, Irene Cripe of Streator; and a father- and-mother-in-law, Robert and Shirlye Keen of Streator. There are also nieces and nephews surviving.

      He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary M. Liptak.

      Born and raised in Streator, he attended St. Stephen's Grade School and graduated from Streator High School, Class of 1973. He later attended the Illinois Fire Service Institute. Rick served as a captain on the Streator Fire Department where he worked for more than 18 years. He retired in September.

      He was a member of the Central Church of Christ, Lazy Acres Sportsman's Club and formerly a member of the Streator Eagles Club. Rick lived life to its fullest with his family and friends and always carried a sense of humor and memorable character. He treasured years of playing and coaching softball, baseball and golf with the church and city leagues. Rick also enjoyed winning Texas Hold 'Em tournaments and dreaming of being on the World Poker Tour. His stories, jokes, good-natured personality, generosity and outgoing spirit will be remembered and loved by many.

      Pallbearers will be Rick Cripe, Andy Minkus, Randy Hart, Jeff Clift, Todti Galyen, Art Johnson, Dave Sweeden and Bob Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Streator Fire Department.

      Memorials may be directed to Northwestern University Division of Organ Transplantation (Gaiter 17-200, 675 N. St. Clair, Chicago, IL 60611) out of gratitude for the work toward his successful liver transplant.
