ALBION -- Doris E. Johnson, 81, of Albion, formerly of Greeley, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Greeley. Pastors Matt Fowler and Steve Marsh will officiate. Burial will be in the Greeley Methodist Cemetery. T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Elizabeth was born Sept. 14, 1932, on the family farm in the Amity Community of Greeley County to Francis and Maye (Pogue) Wagner. She was raised on farms in Greeley County, where she attended rural country school and then graduated from Greeley High School in 1950.

Following high school, she taught at country schools and lived in North Platte for a short time.

On March 15, 1958, Doris was united in marriage to Dwight Johnson at her mother's home in Greeley.

The couple farmed and had a dairy in the Fish Creek area, between Greeley and Scotia. Doris was a homemaker, mother of four and helped on the farm. After her children were older, she worked at the Scotia Café and the Greeley Care Home.

In 1989, the couple moved to Albion, where Doris worked at the Wolfe Memorial Care Home until her retirement in 2005.

Doris was a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church, Happy Hour Extension Club and was a Cub Scout Leader for her boys when they were growing up. Her hobbies included square dancing, pinochle, reading and crocheting. She was a Husker fan and her favorite pastime was watching her family's involvement with horses.

She is survived by her husband, Dwight, of Albion; one daughter, Peggy Nabach, and her friend, Ricardo Sanchez, both of Lincoln; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Nancy of Grand Island and John of Albion; a daughter-in-law, Chris (Mrs. Daniel) Johnson of Belgrade; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Mae Johnson of Greeley, and Ardis Wellington and Judy Nicholson, both of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
