Thomas Sackett (c 1701-1754)
Thomas Sackett, yeoman of Hornchurch, Essex, whose parents have not been identified, was born in about 1701.1 He died aged about 53 in HornchurchG, in June 17542,3,4,5 and was buried at St Andrew's Church, HornchurchG, on 10 June 1754.3,4,5 He married at Holy Trinity Minories, LondonG, on 3 September 1730, Alice Harper.6,7 She was born before 1710.1 She died in HornchurchG, in 17718 and was buried at St Andrew's Church, HornchurchG, on 4 October 1771.8
Thomas made his will in HornchurchG, on 2 June 1754, naming as beneficiaries his wife Alice, his son Henry, his daughters Elizabeth, Mary, Alice and Sarah, his brother Richard, and his sister Mary. He left his farm at Atbones in Hornchurch to his wife until his surviving son Henry, still a minor, reached twenty-one, when he was to inherit all the land and buildings, together with a sum of £300. He also made substantial financial provision for his wife and daughters.9 The will was proved in the Prerogative Court of CanterburyG, on 1 July 1754.
