      Robert S. Barnes, 100, of Chase Point, formerly of North Haven, died Nov. 28. He was the widower of Elizabeth Barnes. Mr. Barnes was a sound engineer, involved in the conversion from silent to talking movies, and also worked as a project engineer in the development and testing of military radar systems. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Townley of Damariscotta; two grandchildren and a great-grand-daughter.       Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stephen Eastty, of No. 102 Hillside avenue, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Elizabeth Breese Eastty, to Robert Shares Barnes, of North Haven, Conn.

      The announcement was made at an informal card party and tea, Wednesday, August 8 at Mr. and Mrs. Eastty's summer home at Babylon, L. I.

      Miss Eastty was a member of the Glen Ridge High School and later a student at the Scoville School, of New York city. Mr. Barnes is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson Barnes, of North Haven, Conn. He was graduated this year from Stevens Institute of Technology and is a member of both Chi Psi Fraternity and Tau Beta Pi, the Mechanical Engineers honor society. No date has been set for the wedding.
