      John Hendricks Dies Tuesday at Farm Residence Funeral Friday for Well-
      Known Farmer Who Dies at Age of 63 John A. Hendricks, 63, a resident and
      farmer of this community most of his life, died at 4:00 o?clock Tuesday
      afternoon at his home in Kirkland Township, eight miles west and one mile
      south of Decatur. Mr. Hendricks had moved there last March after living in
      Wabash Township south of Berne for many years. Death was caused by heart
      trouble, dropsy and complications. He had been seriously ill for five months
      and bedfast for several weeks.
      Mr. Hendricks was born in Wabash Township, December 14, 1879, a son of
      Joseph and Sarah Drake Hendricks. He was married to Elizabeth Topp on
      November 8, 1899. Surviving are the widow; six daughters, Mrs. Alice
      Murphy of Bryant, Mrs. Mary Affolder, Mrs. Pearl Ray and Mrs. Cora McFarland
      all of Decatur, Mrs. Josephine Hendricks of Dayton, Ohio and Sarah, at home,
      and five sons, Joe of Portland, Charles of Berne and Richard, Elmer and
      Herman, all at home. Eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also
      survive.
      A son, James, proceeded. He was killed a few years ago when he broke his
      neck while diving in the Sullivan Pit east of town. Two brothers and two
      sisters also proceeded. They are Theodore, Alfred, Mrs. Clara Gause and Mrs.
      A. J. Myers.
      The body will be returned to the home this evening from the Yager
      Mortuary. Friday morning it will be returned to the L. L. Yager Funeral Home
      on South Fulton Street where funeral services will be held at 2:00 o?clock
      Friday afternoon. Rev. Wm. Schaeffer, pastor of the Bethel Brethren Church
      will officiate and burial will be in the Studabaker Cemetery south of Berne.
      The body can be viewed at the Yager Home Friday forenoon.
