WALKER, Norma Lucille, "The Orchid Lady", 95, passed away on June 26, 2016 at home in Sebring, Florida. Born on May 27, 1921 in Dansville, New York, daughter of Lester and Marian Knapp and wife of Colonel Norbert L. Walker, United States Army. Norma grew up in Dansville, New York, and attended college in Genesee, New York. After marriage, she lived in many places around the world including Japan, France, Germany and stateside in Augusta, Georgia, Florissant, Missouri, Longwood and Sebring, Florida. Norma claimed Florida as her home state from the 1940s. Norma was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church which she loved along with her church family. She also loved her family, friends, orchids, golf, and many stray cats through the years including her present, spoiled fur ball, "Snowy". Norma had three children: a daughter, Susan L. Walker of Orlando, Florida (deceased); a daughter, Deborah C. Walker of Sebring, Florida and a son, Michael J. Walker also of Sebring; a brother, Dr. Robert Knapp and Jean Knapp of Suffolk, Virginia; many nieces and nephews.

Nobert L. "Sam" Walker, 66, of Sebring died Friday. He was a native of Corning, N.Y., and came to the area in 1973 from Longwood. He was a retired U.S. Army colonel, serving in India and Burma, Vietnam, Korea, Germany and Japan. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Sebring Golf Association, Sebring Elks 1529 and in February 1986 founded and directed the Celebrity Waiter's Luncheon for Sebring, to benefit the Leukemia Society. He was a member of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Norma L.; two daughters, Susan Walker of Sanford and Debra Walker Sebring; a son, Michael of Sebring; his mother, Eleanor White of Deland; three brothers, Armonde of Danville (sic), N.Y., Lyn of Naples and Wreford of Winter Haven.
Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, is in charge of arrangements.

WALKER, SUSAN LEE, Memorial Services for Susan Lee Walker will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Homes Lake Ivanhoe Chapel on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 2PM. Ms. Walker, an antiques dealer, writer, and retired social worker, died on April 4, 2005. She was 58. She was born July 2, 1946 in Dansville, NY, the town where her parents, grandparents, and many generations of relatives had lived. Her father was the late Norbert Walker, a retired career officer in the US Army. She is survived by her mother, Norma Knapp Walker of Sebring; sister, Deborah Walker and brother, Michael Walker, both of Sebring; her uncle, Bud Walker, Winter Haven; her uncle and aunt, Robert and Jean Knapp, Suffolk, VA; cousins Donna and Michael Hohman, Mechanicsville, VA; Allen and Claudia Knapp, Williamsburg, VA; Bonnie and John Bauld, Australia; many other cousins throughout the country, and countless cherished friends. As a child, Susan lived in Japan, France and Germany with her family before they moved to Augusta, GA when she was ten years old. She received her Bachelors Degree in English Literature and History from Mercer University in Macon, GA, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Gamma Sorority and Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. She worked in Macon for two years as a Social Worker for Georgia Department of Children and Family Services. In 1970, she moved to Orlando where she worked for 35 years as a Social Worker and Administrator for the Department of Children and Families. Susan was an accomplished writer who wrote for local magazines and the Orlando Sentinel under the name Susan Knapp Walker. After her deep love for family and friends, writing was her greatest love, and she often said that writing gave her greatest happiness. She was a local antiques dealer, a vocation that she also pursued with passion. She loved the South and all the things Southern, and always embraced being a southern woman who was blessed to have adopted it as her home since 1957. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Orange County Humane Society in Orlando, 2727 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL 32839, or the Highlands County Humane Society, 7910 Airport Road, Sebring, FL 33876.
