      Helen Clara Craft, 90, of La Porte, Ind., died Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at IU Health, La Porte.

      She was born on May 16, 1922 to Gust and Clara Helen (Hummel) Diesslin.

      She grew up on the home farm and graduated from La Porte High School in 1940.

      Helen lived in La Porte County her entire life and was an active member of the Kingsbury Baptist Church and the Women's Missionary Society. She was a homemaker and a member of the Purdue Extension Kitchen Kin Home Ec. Club and a 4-H club leader. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed tole painting, needle crafts and antiquing. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

      As a 4-H Junior Leader she met Gordon Hall Craft and they were married on September 27, 1941, at the home of her parents. This union of 68 years brought into this world Jim (Laraine) Craft of La Porte, Charlie (Patti) Craft of La Porte, Peggy (Willis) Alt of Warsaw, Ind., Tom (Jame Solner) Craft of Michigan City, Ind. and Jane (Jeff) York of Downers Grove, Ill.

      Also surviving is a brother, Paul (Joy) Diesslin of Crawfordsville, Ind; and sisters, Mary Ann Ross, Crown Point, Ind., and Louise (Glen) Burchby, West Lafayette, Ind.; and 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

      She was preceded in death by her husband on October 9, 2009; her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard G. and Micki Diesslin; and brother-in-law, Harold Ross.

      LAPORTE -- Gordon Craft, 91, died Friday, October 9, 2009 in LaPorte Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Helen C. Jim (Laraine) Craft., Charlie (Patti) Craft of La Porte, Peggy (Willis) Alt of Warsaw, Tom (Jame Solner) Craft of Michigan City and Jane (Jeff) York of Downers Grove, IL; brother William W.(Dorathy) Craft of Monticello. Friends will be received at the Cutler Funeral Home from 2-6:00 PM Sunday and at the First Baptist Church of Kingsbury from 10-11:00 AM on Monday October 12, 2009. Services will be held at 11 AM Monday.
