Obituaries
Donna M. Robertson
Donna M. Robertson was born on February 10, 1924 to Chauncey and Clara Grenelle in Minneapolis, MN. In 1936, Donnie, her two brothers, and her mother moved to Yakima, WA after her father's death at the young age of 36. Donnie graduated from Yakima High School in 1942, and then the family moved to Seattle. Donnie worked at Boeing until she enlisted in the Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service)in 1944 -1946. She moved back to Seattle, married Delton Peterson in 1947 and gave birth to her daughter in 1948. Delton died in a car accident in 1954.
Donnie worked for the United States Postal Service beginning in 1951 and retired from its real estate division in 1979. She married Dale(Frosty) Foster Robertson, her best friend and love of her life, in 1973. Work transferred them to Portland until 1976 and then back to Seattle. They moved to Maple Valley in 1977 where they would share happy years together dancing to Marty Robbins and later raising granddaughter Michelle . Frosty died in 1995, and Donnie missed him every day since.
In her earlier years, Donnie loved to garden, crochet, play the organ, and read. She even took flight lessons but chose not to get her pilot's license as she was "directionally challenged". During her later years, she enjoyed laughing and playing cards with her friends at the Maple Valley Community Center. Her passion throughout her life was to send greeting cards for all occasions to family members, friends and their children. She had a gift for making others feel special and remembered.
Donnie will be remembered for her generous heart and loving spirit. She was a best friend to many people, and she was a rock of strength for her family. She passed away on March 30, 2010. Those who are greatly missing her include daughter Barbara Peterson; step daughters Lorna(Tim)Campbell, Jamie(Garry)Wohlgemuth, and Janis Robertson; grandchildren Michelle Robertson, Jenelle Nazario, Jason(Miriam)Nazario, Danny and Robbie Campbell; great grandchildren Jason II, Treasure, Charisma, Jaylon, Zachariah and Ximon Nazario and Marcus Dukes.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 10:30 am at the Maple Valley Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Greater Maple Valley Community Center (GMVCC memo: senior programs) or any charity of your choice.
