      DIED, HARRY EAGLES

At his home, three miles south of Winnfield, Nov. 5, 1919, age 59 years and 25 days. He leaves a wife and eight children, three brothers and one sister: Chas, Willie, Jim and Mrs Tennie Stroud, with many other friends and relatives to mourn his loss.

At an early age in life, of his own free will, he joined the Missionary Baptist church, and lived a devoted Christian in that church until 17 years ago, when he with his wife, joined the M.P. Church.

The writer has been personally acquainted with Bro. Harry Eagles for 25 years, and to know him was to love him, because of that noble character and spirit of love that he possessed. While he lived it was his greatest pleasure to share with others in their griefs and burdens.

We no longer see his loving face or hear his gentle voice, and yet he has left a gentle influence that will speak through the lives of many. Dear one, while we say our last good-bye, we know the home has lost a devoted husband and a loving father. The church has lost a great worker, the community a noble citizen and the W.O.W., a true brother. As he lived so did he die, and left that evidence of a Christian faith and hope.

When asked by someone a few days before he died, what he was thinking of, his answer was: "That beautiful, bright home above." Many times we have seen him stand at the head of his class in singing conventions and revival meetings, but no more will we hear him sing until we hear him with the angels on that beautiful, bright shore above. In conclusion, we will say, "Weep not for him dear ones." For what is our loss is his eternal gain. Someday we hope to meet him where sickness, sorrow, pain and death never come.

      A brother in law,
      George Balford Foster
      Pastor, Verda Baptist Church
