      Francis A. Connor

      RAWLINS - Rosary for longtime Rawlins resident Francis A. Connor, will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at Rostad Mortuary. Visitation will he from il p.m. Friday until the rosary at Rostad Mortuary. Funeral services will he held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

      Mr. Connor died Thursday, Dec. 21, l995, at Carbon County Memorial Hospital.

      He was horn July 6, l923, to Roy and Ida (Signorelli) Connor in Rock Springs.

      He attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from high school there in 1941. He competed in all athletics.

      Mr. Connors (sic) received his bachelor's degree in secondary education and his master's in administration from the University of Wyoming, where he played guard for the Wyoming Cowboy football team.

      Mr. Connor served in the European Theater in World War II with the 668th Battalion of the Army Corps of Engineers.

      He spent his entire professional career with the Rawlins public schools system and Carbon County School District No. 1. He taught and coached football and track at Rawlins High School. He served as principal at Baggs for one year and finished his career as an elementary physical education teacher. He touched the lives of many students and athletes.

      Mr. Connor's honors included induction into the Wyoming Coaches Hall of Fame and Track Coach of the Year in 1068. He was a past president of the University of Wyoming Alumni Association. He coached the state champion track teams in 1955, l956 and 1957. Several of his teams also played for state football championships.

      He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna Ayer Connor; a sister, Jeanne Potter; numerous nieces and nephews and a goddaughter, Meghan O'Toole.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jack and Billy.

      Donations may he sent to the Carbon County Library Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
