      Betty Jo Hoffman Johnson, 82, of Boise, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 of natural causes. \At the time of her death, Betty was surrounded by her devoted children and grandchildren. Betty was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to be with her family.
      Betty was born November 17, 1932 in Nampa, Idaho to Joseph Harvey Hoffman and Ernestine Marie Kreigbaum. Her family then moved to the corner of Black Cat Road and Franklin. She attended school in Meridian and graduated from Meridian High School in 1950. She was a bareback trick rider for FFA and she was also a Meridian Dairy Day Queen and Miss Meridian. While in high school she met her future husband and they started dating when he came home from the Korean War. Betty attended Idaho State University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Education. She joined the sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, where she was the chapter's president. Betty was married April 22, 1954 in Winnemucca, Nevada. Betty and Donald were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden Temple on May 17, 1975. Betty and Donald then returned to Idaho State University where she taught on the Blackfoot Indian Reservation while Donald finished his degree. Dawn and Virgil were born in Pocatello. They then moved to Boise where Aaron and Becky joined the family. Betty opened a private kindergarten in her garage. All of the children in the neighborhood attended this kindergarten. Betty then joined the Boise School District as a first grade teacher at Hillcrest Elementary for 28 years. She kept in touch with many of her former students. During the summer Betty and Donald would take the family up to Moscow, Idaho to work on her Master's degree. Betty received her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Idaho in 1976. She continued her love of learning and took many classes from Boise State University. She was a big fan of all three Idaho colleges and followed all of their sporting events.
      Betty's life focused on her family. She would be seen at dance recitals, football games or band concerts. She would always wear the appropriate school colors. She never missed a birthday or anniversary. She called and sent cards to all for every occasion.
      Betty was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as the Relief Society President, the Young Women's President and the Primary President. Betty and her husband served a service mission teaching English in X'ian China. She was loved by all who knew her. She was known for her kindness, patience, strength and service.
      Betty is survived by her four children; daughter Dawn (Blaine King) of Boise; son, Virgil (Joan) of Kimberly, Idaho; son, Aaron (Shelly) of Nampa, Idaho and daughter Rebecca "Becky" (Scott Gibson) of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Donald.
      Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31st, 2015, at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel located at 3200 Cassia Street, Boise. The family will greet friends and family at a viewing on Thursday, July 30th, from 7:00 ? 8:30 pm at Relyea Funeral Chapel, located at 318 N. Latah St., Boise. Interment will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boise School Foundation, or charity of your choice.
