MRS. H.C. DE RHAM SUCCUMBS IN HOME

Former Georgianna Berryman Ex-Chairman of Women's Group at City Museum

Mrs. Georgianna Berryman de Rham, widow of Henry Casimir de Rham of this city and Tuxedo Park, N.Y., died yesterday morning at her home, 960 Park Avenue, after a brief illness. She was 78 years old.

Born in New York, Mrs. de Rham was a daughter of the late Charles and Harriet Whitney Berryman and a great-granddaughter of Stephen Whitney, early New York merchant, whose home on Bowling Green occupied the site of the present Customs House.

Until her recent resignation, Mrs. de Rham had been chairman of the women's committee of the Museum of the City of New York for twenty years. She presided at the 1927 reception given at the opening of the Gracie Mansion to the public after its restoration by the museum, and had lent from her own possessions some of the furniture for the music room and the Sheraton Room.

Mrs. de Rham was long prominent in the social life of New York and Newport, R.I., and Tuxedo Park. Among the philanthropies which had received her help was the New York Institute for the Education of the Blind. She belonged to the Colony Club and the Colonial Dames of America.

Surviving are three sons, Casimir, William, and Stephen Whitney de Rham; a daughter, Mrs. Frederick S. Whitlock; a sister, Mrs. Caroline S. Spencer of Newport, R.I., and three grandchildren, Casimir Jr., William Jr., and David Patterson de Rham.
