David J. Contois
HYDE PARK - David J. Contois, 61, of Hyde Park, NY, died , Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Rosary Hill Hospice in Hawthorne, NY.
An engineer, David worked for IBM in Kingston, NY for 27 years. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club as well as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the US Navy.
Born on December 19, 1946, in S. Weymouth, MA, he was the son of Ruth H. Gardener Contois of Holbrook, MA and the late Arthur J. Contois. David was a graduate of Canton High School in Canton, MA.
In addition to his mother, David is survived by a daughter: Monica L. Contois & husband Jason Yeafoli of San Francisco, CA, a son: Mark Contois of Seattle, WA., 4 sisters; Carole O'Keeffe of Virginia Beach, VA, Denise Sevio, of Stoughton, MA, Suzanne Payne, and Annette Pennington both of Bowling Green, KY and 4 brothers; Arthur Contois of Canton, MA, Donald Contois of Stoughtlon, MA, James Contois of Holbrook, MA, and Michael Contois of Greater Boston, MA. His first wife, Carolyn Contois of Rhinebeck, NY as well as numerous nieces & nephews also survive him.
David's second wife, Sandra Logan, predeceased him in August 2003.
A memorial service will be held at 8 00 pm on Wednesday, October 29lh, 2008 at the Burnett & White Funeral Home, 91 E. Market St, Rhinebeck, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 from 5 to 8 pm.
Memorial donations may be made in David's memory to the American Cancer Society, 2678 South Rd, Suite 102, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, Dutchess County SPCA, 636 violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538 or the Institute of Electrical & Flectronics Englneers, 1828 L Street, N.W, Suite 1202, Washington, D.C. 20036-5104.
