      Mr. William Roy Youmans, age 86, of Blackshear died early Sunday morning at his residence following a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Pierce County.

      He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Mae Miles Youmans his parents Stacy Youmans and Mary Madeline Douglas Youmans, and a daughter-in-law Janice Bennett Youmans.

      Mr. Youmans was retired from the U.S. Army as a Sgt. First Class and served during WW 2. He was a longtime member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.

      He is survived by 3 sons Larry Youmans wife Jerry of Waycross, Walter Youmans wife Dana of Waycross, and Robert Youmans of Blackshear, 8 grandchildren Tony Youmans wife Jenna of Waycross, Stacy Bashlor husband Will of Waycross, Leslie Johnson husband Jarod of Blackshear and Ryan Youmans of Valdosta, Jackie Harrison of Waycross, Jayne Bradley husband Ken of Jacksonville, Fl., Jimmy Strickland and John Youmans both of Waycross and 9 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren a sister Hilda Davis husband Ronnie of Waycross, a brother-in-law Sonny Miles wife Pat of Charleston, S.C., a sister-in-law Mildred Salazar of Poland, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

      A funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Waters Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8pm at Smith Funeral Home in Blackshear.
