Served under Capts Thos. Askey and Noah Abraham, 1779-80-81. In 1778 he
had 300 ac. land, horses and cattle, also in 1782. Deeds show the above
man, May 1812 as of Toboyne Twp., Cumb. Co., Penna., with wife
Catherine, selling land in Fannett Twp., to Philip Shoop.
In May 1778
Elijah and Azariah Sackett signed a petition from Fannett Twp.
explaining the lack of arms and ammunition; and in 1779, Azariah, Joseph
and Enos again Signed a petition from Fannett Township.

Hi everybody, my wife is a decendant of Joseph Sackett who ended up in Huntingdon Co, PA in the 1800 census. Little has been found about him.

But let me tell you a story about Elijah. Thomas Sackett (Weygant #82) and his sons received land for fighting in the Rev. War. After visiting Chambersburg, PA, we went to the land that they received. From the map we recognized that the land was near the road after it crossed a creek in Horse Valley which is off of Path Valley near Concor. We stopped at one farm and it seemed to be deserted. So we went to the next farm. A farmer was mowing hay in the field and he came over to talk to us. We asked him if he had ever heard of the name Sackett. In our total disbelief, his response was, "Elijah Sackett?" Of course our immediate question was how did you know this name because Elijah (Weygant #281) hadn't lived there for over 200 years. Here they were using the original land grants to try to establish the boundry between the abandoned farm (which was for sale) and his farm. He pointed out where the boundaries were and we hiked around a little on Elijah Sackett's land.

Elijah SACKETT was born in 1751, probably in Cumberland Co., PA, to Thomas and Sarah (HAYWOOD) SACKETT.
He served in the Revolutionary War as a soldier from Cumberland Co., PA.
He married Catherine Gibson in 1779, probably in Cumberland Co., PA. I have no information if they had any children.
They moved to Delaware Co., OH. He died in 1837 in Delaware Co., OH.
