4 William Lawrence, the fifth son of the said John
Lawrence and Patience Sacket, was for many years a
magistrate of Queens County, and filled the station with usefulness. On the capture of Long Island in 1776, part of his house at Newton [Newtown] was the headquarters of the British General Robertson, and himself and family were subjected to many of the exactions and vexations which others, who had rebel predelections, experienced from the invaders. He died in his sixty-fifth year ; he was twice married, first, Ann Brinckerhoff, and by her had issue :

3. Left all of her real estate in Trains Meadow near Long Island to Dennistonn Wood, Henry Duncan Wood, Chalmers Wood and Van Horne Lourena Wood, sons of William and the late Marharet Wood, share and share alike.
4. All the rest of the estate is left to her son Gilbert Smith Lawrence and her daughter Cornelia Beach Lawrence, share and share alike
