Marie Sackett Erts, 95, a longtime resident of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at the Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty, NY.
The daughter of the late Augustus and Anna Sackett, she was born on March 17, 1916 in Hamden, NY. Marie was married on Aug. 19, 1944 to Charles J. Erts and resided in Liberty, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1973; her parents, and her six siblings: Harold, Cliff, Mac and Clyde Sackett, Wilma Dibble and Betty Martin.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Erts Klos and husband, John of Wanaque, NJ; her sons: Glenn Erts of Liberty, Richard Erts and wife, Brandy of Santa Rosa, CA and John Erts and wife, Linda of Neversink; her grandchildren: Alysen Klos Akers of Wanaque, NJ, Jonathan Klos of Philadelphia, PA, Kendra Erts and Ryan Erts, both of Neversink, Jillian Erts of Santa Rosa, CA and one great-grandchild, Alexa Marie Akers of Wanaque, NJ.
Marie was a partner and bookkeeper for her husband?s business, Erts Plumbing and Heating. After many years of assisting her husband and two sons, Glenn and John, she retired in 1979. She loved the outdoors and gardening. She was especially fond of flowers and raising her own vegetables. She loved birds and watching the squirrel?s antics trying to get birdseed from the feeders. Her greatest happiness came from her family. She was very involved with her children and grandchildren.
The family wants to give a special thank you to her caregivers: Orra, Diane and Winnie, for their devotion over the years. We would also like to thank the staff at Achieve Nursing Facility, Floor 1 East, for their support and care of Marie while she was a patient there.
