H.B. OIL MAN SHOOTS SELF WITH SHOTGUN

WHILE his wife and 10-year old daughter were at a fire nearby, Benjamin F. Klippel, 55, a Huntington Beach oil worker, committed suicide in his Costa Mesa home late yesterday by blowing his head off with a shotgun.

A note written by Klippel was found near the body. It read: ?I took some tablets. Good-bye, mother. Ben.?

Klippel tied one end of a string to the trigger of the 12-guage shotgun and the other to one of his toes, placing the muzzle to his head.

The body was discovered when Margaret, his daughter, returned

from th« fire and went to the garage.

Officers and members of the suicides family can assign no r«ason for Klippel's act. Yesterday was the first time he had been away from work in several years Mrs. Klippel said. He complained of not feeling well yesterday morning but his condition was not considered serious.

The body was taken to the Dixon funeral parlors in Huntington Beach.

Klippel is survived by his widow, May, and five children. He had lived in Orange county for the fast years and in Costa Mesa for the past two years.

Traffic Officer Frank Vaughn was called when the body was discovered.
