      The Day in Rock Island

      The funeral of Mrs. Kate Bell Thomas, who died at Kirkman, Shelby county, Ia., the first of the week, was held from Knox's undertaking parlors this morning at 8 o'clock. Rev. E. McOmber, pastor of the Methodist church at Taylor Ridge, conducted the services. The pall bearers were four brothers and two brothers-in-law, as follows: William, John, Chas. H., and James Caruthers of Taylor Ridge, and G. Godfrey Schneider, of Taylor Ridge, and Orrie Heath, also of Taylor Ridge. The body was interred at Chippianock. The deceased lady was 34 years of age.

      GOLDEN WEDDING CELEBRATED

      Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Taylor of Taylor Ridge
      Mr. Taylor b. 30 May 1932 at Malverne, O.; moved with parents to Indiana in 1838; Move to Edgington Township in Illinois in 1855.
      Mrs. Taylor b. 22 Apr 1937 at Carthage, O., moved to Illinois in 1845. They married 17 Jan 1856 then sttled on a farm near Taylor Ridge. "Six years ago they retired and moved to Taylor Ridge." They had "twelve children, eight of whom survive: Mrs. Rachel Kirby of Peoria, Charles of Carbon Cliff, James of East Moline, Mrs. Godfrey Schneider, Mrs. S.O. Heath, Mrs. Charles Dunlap, John, and William, all of Taylor Ridge. There are twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
