Pherbia Thornburg Cooper
PAWLING -- Pherbia Thornburg Cooper, of Quaker Hill, died Monday at her home.
Mrs. Cooper attended St. Margaret's in Waterbury, Conn., a girls preparatory school in Switzerland, Ohio Wesleyan University and Columbia University.
She was born Nov. 7, 1938, in Danbury, Conn., the daugher od S. Raymond and Pherbia Thomas Thornburg.
Her husband, Cole Cooper, predeceased her.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by one son, Colin Cooper of Juneau, Alaska, and one cousin.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Christ Church, Quaker Hill, Pawling.
Burial will be in Quaker Hill Cemetery, Pawling.
Memorial donations may be made to the church or to the Akin Hall Association, Pawling.

D.C. Cooper, 36, of Westport, Killed in Alaska
WESTPORT -- Donald Cole Cooper, 36, formerly of Westport, was killed instantly the night of September 5 when the car he was driving turned over 160 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska.
Memorial services will be conducted Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. in Christ and Holy Trinity Church here.
A native of Boston, Mr. Cooper came to Westport in 1945 with his parents from Washington, D.C. He went to Alaska in 1957 and spent a year above the Arctic Circle working in the DEW line. He was employed by the Green Construction company, a road building firm.
During the Korean war, Mr. Cooper served in the Air Force. He attended the University of Connecticut.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pherbia Thornburg Cooper, Pawling, N.Y.; a son, Colin Cooper of Pawling; his father, Donald B. Cooper of Westport and his mother of Noblesville, Ind.; a brother, Porter Cooper of Killington, Vt.; a sister, Mrs. Richard Burch of Brooklyn Heights, N.Y.; two step-brothers and a step-sister.

New York, June 16. -- Special -- Pherbia Thomas, daigher of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Thomas of Asbury Park and sister of Lowell Thomas, novelist and Radio commentator, will be married on Saturday to S. Raymond Thornburg, formerly of Evansville, Ill., at Paling (sic), N.Y. Mr. Thornburg, now in the oil business, formerly was in the investment banking business in Chicago. He was graduated from Ohio Wesleyan college in 1915. Miss Thomas was graduated from Ohio Wesleyan in 1926.
