Clarence Reader Wagner died in Spartanburg, S.C. on April 11, 1982 at the age of 95 years.
He was born in Abilene, Kan. on March 27, 1887 to William Hamlin and Annie Curges (Reader) Wagner. He lived in Abilene for about seven years and then moved first to Williamsport, Penn. and then to Chicago, IL.
He lived in several different places during his life including Ann Lake Township in Kanabec County, Minn. 1916-1947; Mora, Minn. 1947-1949; Anoka, Minn. 1949-1955; Decatur, Alab. 1955-1959; Beaver Falls, N.Y. 1959-1962; Toppenish, Wash. 1962-1963; Portland, Ore. 1963-1980; Spartanburg, S.C. 1980 until his death.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Kellogg Archer in Mora, Minn. on November 11, 1922. He was trained as a tool and die maker and worked in crafts as a young man. He worked as a poultry breeder and hatchery man in Ann Lake Township for 25 years and was the first Kanabec County Assessor from which he retired in 1955. He also served in the U.S. Army in France during World War I.
He is survived by two sons; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Marian Nelson of Mora; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at the Dresser Funeral Chapel in Mora with Rev. Thomas A. Gotschall officiating.
