Lincoln Smart passed away August 10 in Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He was born Feb. 13, 1909, in Winthrop, Ark., and lived in McCurtain County for several years.
He was a farmer and was voted Farmer of The Year in 1946. He moved to Eureka, California in 1948, where he worked in the lumber industry. He retired from Simpson Lumber Company of Arcata, Calif. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Eureka.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jim Baker Smart, and one son, James Lincoln Smart of Fairacres, N.M.
He is survived by one son, John Smart of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one daughter, Wilma Williams of De Queen, Ark.; three brothers, John Smart of Eureka, Calif., Robert Smart of Colorado City, Texas and Floyd Smart of Big Springs, Texas; five sisters, Martha Mears and Marie Reid of Broken Bow, Flora Bratton of Olympia, Wash., Adie Seastrank of Goodmon, Mo. and Annie May Roath of Eureka, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was interred in Greenwood Cemetery in Arcata, California.

Mrs. Ida Smart Rites Wednesday
BIG SPRING -- Funeral for Mrs. Ida Smart, 84, who moved here three months ago from Idabell, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in River-Welch Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. J.W. Farmer, pastor of First Assembly of God Church here, will officiate. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
Mrs. Smart died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday in a Big Spring hospital.
Born March 24, 1884, in Winthrop, Ark., she married Robert A. Smart Jan 1, 1907, in Winthrop, Ark. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Lincoln of Eureka, Calif., John W. of Calpella, Calif., Robert A. Jr., of Big Spring and Floyd H. of Galena Park; five daughters, Mrs. Apton Mears and Mrs. David Read, both of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. T.A. Bratton of Oregon, Mrs. Russell Seastrunk of Goodman, Miss., Mrs. E.H. Rorch of Eureka, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
