The funeral for Mrs. John H. (Althea) Duckstad, 63, 1831 15th St. S, Moorhead, will be at 2 Friday in the Presbyterian Church of Moorhead. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
Althea Reed was born May 20, 1903 at Amenia, N.D. She was the daughter of the late Robert B. Reed, a North Dakota pioneer and first graduate of North Dakota State University. Herself a graduate of NDSU, she taught school in Minnesota and Michigan and at Edgeley, N.D. She was married at Detroit Lakes, Minn., June 24, 1932. Mr. Duckstad died in 1973.
She has served as a deaconess of her Church, governor general of the N. D. Society of Mayflower Descendants, worthy matron of the Aurora Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and president of the Park Rapids, Minn. American Legion Auxilary.
Mrs. Duckstad was a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron, an honorary home economics society. NDSU Home Economics Alumni Chapter, AAUW, Kappa Delta Sorority, the PEO Sisterhood, Daughters of Dakota Pioneers, Daughters of the American Revolution and a membe of farm management organization.
Survivors include two daughters and a son, Mrs. Roger (Edith) Miller, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. John (Lisa) Locken and John, both Minneapolis, a sister and brother, Mrs. Florence Reed Owens, 1341 11th Ave. N. and Capt. Clarence R. Reed, 1170 11th St. S, both Fargo and three grandchildren. (Wright Funeral Home.)
