To Join Her Lover
Alameda, June 2. Alameda society will this week lose one of its charming young ladies, Miss Frankie Cheney, a petite brunette, who will be carried away on Saturday's south-bound steamer to Santa Barbara, where she will be met by Harry Sackett, formerly of Alameda, and immediately thereafter become his wife.
Miss Cheney is a daughter of M. Cheney of this city, and sister of Mrs. Frank Le Count and Mrs. A.B. Cooper. She has always been active and popular in the work of the Presbyterian Church, and has many friends who will wish her a safe voyage.
The Sacketts lived in Alameda for many years and were prominent, particularly among the Methodists, in church and society functions, so that it came about that Miss Cheney and Harry Sackett knew each other as boy and girl, and that their liking ripened into love. Sackett moved from this city to Ventura about seven years ago to engage in the bee industry. Ther his brother George Sackett is now County Superintendent of Schools.
The young people heard from each other often, but their wedding was delayed on a number of occasions through sickness in one or both families. They were to have been united in marriage on Christmas day last, but the serious illness of the groom caused a postponement, and now that he is recovered his plucky bride will join him in the land of flowers in a few days. They will make their home in Ventura.
