Lyle F. "Rooster" Ervin, 82, of Blue Mound died Saturday, November 29, 2003, in his home.
He was born October 12, 1921, in Mt. Vernon, the son of James William and Bessie Sackett Ervin. He was raised by Frank and Maggie Royston. He married Mabel C. Nolen on March 10, 1946. He was a mechanic and thermo-king specialist for General Transfer for 29 years. He and his wife ran the Pineview Green House and Woodshed Crafts in Blue Mound. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife; sons: Lyle F. Jr., (wife Susi) Ervin of Commerce, CO, James W. Ervin, John C. (wife Dianna) Ervin and Kenneth C. (wife Cindy) Ervin, all of Blue Mound; daughter, Margaret (husband Lawrence) Sandberg of Blue Mound; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister: Frieda Dyke of Decatur; and brother, Willard Huffman of Rogers, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, in Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, in the funeral home.
