Jane Lois 'Calamity' Ssckett Fraser

Jane Fraser, 84, of Salem died Tuesday. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she attended Ohio State University and was a nurse until retiring in 1970. She moved to California and came to Salem in 1978. She loved big band music and dancing.
Her husband, John, is deceased.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Fraser of Salem and Susan Schmidt of Turner, son, Richard of Salem; sister, Virginia Mitchell of Bradenton, Fla.; brothers, George Sackett of of Irving, Texas, Richard Darling of Chalfont, Pa., and David Cooper of Montrose, Va.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be private. Interment will be at Restlawn Mausoleum. Arrangements by Restlawn Funeral Home.
Contributions: Willamette Valley Hospice.

Born David Paul Sackett, he and his twin sister Doris, were the children of George Campbell and Etta Clare Sackett. They were adopted by Samuel and Verna Shields Cooper. David was a Naval Aviator and Instructor Pilot during WWII. David was a Mason and member of the Sons of the Revolution. He worked at the Defense Intelligence Agency and was a teacher later in life. David lived much of his life in Virginia and was one of the original commissioners of Leesburg Airport.
