The brother of a Bluffton resident, James Tyndall, 69, of Portland, died Tuesday Oct. 30, 2007, in the Jay County Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born in Portland to Herman and Fern (Armantrout) Tyndall on Jan. 6, 1938, he married Donna Carlson on July 17, 1960; she survives.
Mr. Tyndall was a U.S. Army Korean Conflict veteran serving with the 10th Cavalry. He was a member of American Legion Post #211 in Portland. He worked as a brick layer and stone setter for 35 years and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was in the choir and Men of Action.
Other surviving relatives include three daughters, Lora Jefferson of Pickens, S.C.; Jeana Clayton of Portland and Sheila Tyndall of Berne; one sister, Marilyn Sue Cobbum of Bluffton; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial is at Green Park Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #211.
Preferred memorials are to the Zion Lutheran Church.
