Dorothy J. Sackett, 73, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born January 19, 1938 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Julius and Rosa (Gargac) Horvath Sr. She married Donald Sackett on July 19, 1958 at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City and he survives. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survivied by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Greg Simmons of Wentzville, Missouri; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Kimberly Sackett of Granite City and Brian and Carol Sackett of Granite City; four grandchildren, Sean, Victoria, Evan and Travis Sackett; one brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Betty Jo Horvath of Granite City; one sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Anthony Crabb of South Carolina; other extended family and friends. In celebration of her life, a visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3690 Maryville Road in Granite City on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice and may be accepted at the funeral home and the family requests that you plant a tree or a flower in Dorothy's memory in lieu of floral tributes.

Donald V. Sackett, 76, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at his home.
He was born October 29, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Samuel and Tilda (Wheat) Sackett.
He married Dorothy J. (Horvath) Sackett on July 19, 1958 at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2011.
He was a proud and dedicated member of Teamsters Local #525 in Alton and retired from truck driving after many years of service. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Korean War. He enjoyed his days of spending time at his cabin in Missouri and loved the outdoors and nature. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Greg Simmons of Wentzville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Kimberly Sackett of Granite City and Brian and Carol Sackett of Granite City; four grandchildren, Sean Sackett, Victoria Buckingham, Evan Sackett and Travis Sackett; one sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Jim Doyle of Missouri; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Alicia Sackett of Florida and Joe and Julee Sackett of Alabama; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice and may be accepted at the funeral home.
