Varel William Raymond "Tiger" Sackett, 80, of Trenton and formerly of St. Jacob, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Trenton Village retirement facility.
He was born July 9, 1929 in Pocahontas, son of Clarence and Catherine, nee Schrumpf, Sackett, and they both preceded him in death.
He married Mary J. Barsch August 2, 1952 in Troy, and she died May 18, 2002. A sister, Vera; and three brothers, Olin, Paul, and Udell, also preceded him.
Surviving are three daughters, Connie (Gary) Haas of Lebanon; Debbie (Rick) Bohnenstiehl of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Sue (Rick) Kurtz of Mulberry Grove; two grandchildren, David Haas and Jeremy Bohnenstiehl; a brother, Marvin (Marie) Sackett of Highland; and two sisters, Ruth (Jim) Brusack of Highland, and Mary Singleton of Highland.
Mr. Sackett was a retired construction laborer. He was a member of Laborers' Local 670 in O'Fallon.
The funeral was this morning from Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Interment St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Troy.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Trenton Village, and will be accepted through Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
