Mrs. Joe Akers
Dies Monday
Adella Josephine Akers, Eddyville, Iowa was born Feb. 19, 1885 near Chillicothe, Iowa and died July 9, 1962. She was the daughter of Clara and Tom Carman and made her home near Chillicothe. she attended Iowa Wesleyan College at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and taught in rural schools. On Oct. 24, 1906 she married Joseh M. Akers and they lived in Chillicothe, Iowa. Later they moved to Eddyville, then to Tarkio, Mo., and then to columbia, Mo. In 1935 they moved back to Iowa and have made their home in the vicinity of Eddyville.
She was a member of the Methodist church. O. E. S., White Shrine, Ladies Club of the Columbia church and the Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Akers of Eddyville; three sons, Keith Akers of Flint, Mich., Fred Akers of Chicago, Ill., and Ralph Akers of West Liberty, Iowa, and one grandson, Joseph V. Akers of West Liberty, one sister, Mrs. Herman Leander of Chillicothe, one brother, H. E. Carman of Wichita, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters.
Services were held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel, Ottumwa, with burial in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Chillicohe.
Pallbearers: Paul rouse, James McGee, Homer Gardner, Elmer Van Zante, Lowell McCracken, and David Hargis.

The daughter of Thomas and Clara sackett Carman she was born Feb. 19, 1885, near Chillicothe.

Mrs. Clara Carmen, a longtime resident of Wapello and Monroe counties died at the home of her son R.E. Carmen near Chillicothe Friday afternoon.
She was the daughter of Alexander and Cornelia Sackett and was born April 10, 1859 in Monroe County.
Her husband, T.C. Carmen preceded her in death, June 8, 1906 and four children died in infancy.
Surviving are two sons. H.C. Carmen of Chicago and R.C. Carmen, two daughters, Mrs. Herman Lander of Chillicothe and Mrs. J.M. Ackers of near Eddyville, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from Columbia church with burial in Columbia Cemetery.

Akers-Carman Wedding
On wednesdahy evening, Oct. 24, a pretty quiet wedding took place at the home of Mrs. T. C. Carman, Dudley, Iowa, when her eldest daughter Miss Adella J. Carman was united in marriage to Joseph M. Akers, of Chillicothe, Iowa. Promptly at 8 o'clock the birdal party entered the room and took their place beneath an arch of evergreens, and were united in marriage by Rev. Geo. E. Monkman, of Pella, Ia. the bride was becomingly attired in a beartiful white Persian lawn dress. After the ceremony the comapany retired to the dining room where a delicious supper wass served. the bride is one of the most popular and successful school teachers and a highly esteemed young woman. the groom is an excellent young man and is a merchant in Chillicothe. Mr. and Mrs. Akers will be at home in Chillicothe to their friends.
