------
It appears that James was not around by 1850 when Charlotte was head of household.
------
He must not have been included in the census between 1850 and 1880.... In 1880 there is a James Sackett that would fit in the Cleveland Asylum, married, born New York, age 77, suffering from Mania and in for 12 months. In 1870 there is a James Sackett, age 54, born New York, Occupation Clergy in what looks like a the room in a Bakery in Oberlin, which could be him. I don't see anyone in 1860. In 1850 there is a James Sackett, Farmer, in a Lunatic Asylum, age 44, born New York, in Columbus Ohio. It looks like he died at the home of his son, William, so he could have been in and out of Hospitals. - [Kari Roehl]

Ohio Elyria Lorain County Reporter 11 November 1893
One week ago last Sunday, friends and neighbors followed to its last resting place the remains of James Sackett, the father of William and Collins Sackett, of this place. He died at the infirmary the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 26th of old age. He was 89 years old. The funeral services was held at the home of his son, Wm. Sakcett, on the 29th. Those who remember Mr. Sackett years ago, before the accident that left his mind a blank, and from which he never recovered, speak of him as a true honest man, a man of deep Christian principles, and as he lay in that last deep sleep that knows no awakening he was the picture of a noble old man.
