Fannie was the fifth of six children born to Fred and Maggie Jane (Cook) Firnekas. She married Hugh Odo Sackett in 1926 and they had four children: Janet, Loren, Gladys and Mary Genevieve 'Dottie'.

Fannie Belle Sackett
BUFFALO -- Funeral services for Buffalo resident Fannie Belle Sackett, 98, will be conducted at 2 pm. Saturday at Big Horn Baptist Church in Buffalo by Pastor Danny Francis. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be in Adams Funeral Home Chapel from 1 to K) p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
She died Oct. 28, 2002, at Amle Holt Care Center In Buffalo.
Born in November 1903, on the family homestead on French Creek, northwest of Buffalo, she was the daughter of Fred and Maggie J. Flrnekas.
She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1924; attended a University of Wyoming branch summer school in Buffalo; earned her teaching certificate; attended 12 weeks of summer school In Laramie; and took a correspondence course from UW to upgrade her certificate to an "A" standard.
From 1924 to 1926, she taught in Mayoworth. She started teaching at Box Elder School in the fall of 1926, but resigned in November when she married Hugh "Pete" Sackett on Nov. 10, 1926.
He was a widower with three children, Vance, Lee and Brennis, and a son, Vernon, who died in infancy. They lived on the Sackett Ranch in Mayoworth until 1937, when they moved to Buffalo. He preceded her in death in 1940.
In 1947, she started working for Dr. John Knebel, and later for Drs. Tom Nicholas and Spencer Walton. The medical practice later was known as Buffalo Medical Clinic, now the Family Medical Center. She retired in September 1970, and devoted her life to her family and church.
A faith-filled woman, she enjoyed having her home full of family and friends. Her favorite pastimes were baking, crocheting, and writing poetry.
Survivors include her son, Loren Sackett, and his wife of Buffalo; four daughters, Brennis Miller of Kaycee, Janet Johnson and her husband of Aztec, N.M., Gladys Gunderman and her husband of Buffalo and Mary G. "Dottie" Guy and her husband of Centralia, Wash.; sister, Ellen Anderson of Yuba City, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Vance and Lee; four brothers, Church, Joe, Charlie and Hamp Flrnekas; and a sister, Mary Claypool.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Horn Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of Adams Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams Ave., Buffalo 82834.
