Olive [Township]
The first settlements in the northeast part were made by Samuel Voyles and David Hendershott in 1818. They built cabins near each other, in the northwest part of 2ection 13, on the west side of Silver creek. Voyles was from South Carolina; he raised quite a family of children, and resided here until his death. Robert W. Voyles, a grandson, is the only one of the name now living in the township. Nancy Stephenson, a daughter of Samuel Voyles, lives in the settlement . . . .
