Enlisted: June 27, 1825, 2nd Regiment Northumberland Mil., Monaghan Twp in the 3rd Monaghan, Co. along with brothers Joseph, Samuel, Daniel & Jessia (sic).

Indicated as Mary Perrin's father in Haw's genealgoy. He and his young bride evidently left Hope Twp., Northumberland Co. for Mariposa Twp., Victoria Co. about 1832. Later Joseph inherited 25 pounds when his father died about 1857. Picture available in 1881 Victoria Co. Atlas.

May have first married Susannah Elsworth of Hope Twp 22 July 1822 in Cavan, Ontario. Source: Cavan Parish Register, 1820 -- which is kept at the Anglican Church Archives in Toronto. Listed Monaghan as his resident when he married Mary Perrin. Robert and Jon Bromfield were witnesses.

Died age 79 yrs, 2 mths. Burial register stated he was born in Mariposa, a place uninhabited by white men in 1802. However, he was supposed to have been one of the first white settlers in Mariposa Twp. No cause of death is reported on his death register. His death was reported by John Cooper.
