L. Rasmussen Dies After Long Illness
Louis Rasmussen Sr. 77, of 165-f S. Main Street in Orem, died at his home Monday following a long illness.
He was born Apr. 25, 1891, in Elsinore, the son of Niels and Hansena Madsen Rasmussen.
He married Clara Jane Levie on June 15, 1911, in Richfield.
The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mr. Rasmussen was a railroader for 33 years and a carpenter. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and was an elder.
He worked for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad as a section foreman and roadmaster. During World War II he was assigned to lay track at Remington Arms in Salt Lake, Geneva Steel and the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot.
Upon his retirement he assisted with the bookkeeping at son's garage in Provo.
Survivors include his wife of Orem; four sons and three daughters: Niels L. Rasmussen, Randall Rasmussen, Mrs. Ervil (Cleo) Davis, Louise L. Kelsey, all of Orem; Mrs. Winfred (May) Gleave, Louis Rasmussen Jr. and Fred Rasmussen all of Provo; 29 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Otto Rasmussen, Salt Lake City; William (Bill) Rasmussen and Mrs. Gus (Anna) Soutas, both of Provo.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Orem 22nd Ward Chapel, 140 W. 1600 S., Orem. Friends may call at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the ward chapel Friday prior to services.
Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
