Rev. David Peebles was the eldest ch of Ruben.(my note: and Caroline Bardwell) He was b. 19 June, 1830 in Madison, N.Y. and he d. 17 Feb., 1913 in the Soldier's Home at Sawtell, Calif. And is bur there. He m 1st on 23 Nov, 1854 to Charlotte M. Bradley who was b. 2 June, 1833 in Northville, Mich. And d. 2 Nov 1870 in Talladega, Ala. She was dau of Harvey Stone and Maria (Rose) Bradley.
After his m. to Charlotte they went from Northville to Madison, Wisc. Where their 1st ch was born and then they moved to Brown County, Kansas where David purchased 160 acres of land of his father-in-law, Harvey S. Bradley. Here their 2nd son, Elmer, was b. and David was elected on 5 Nov, 1861 to office as Register of Deeds of Brown County. In 1863 David and Charlotte went back to Northville and Salem, Mich., where their dau., Carrie, was b. in 1864.
On 24 Feb, 1865 David enlisted as a Pvt. In Comp. A. of the 1st Reg't. of Mich. Cavalry. He was discharged 7 Mar., 1868. Another son, Oscar Irving Peebles was b. in Mich in 1868 and David and Charlotte left this baby son with a family by the name of Tade and moved to Alabama, where Charlotte's bros were in the lumbering business. David's dau Carrie, was left with her grd mother Bradley. David went into the sawmill business in Alabama and here was born another son, Walter Coe Peebles. Carlotte died shortly after this birth in Talladega, Ala. And David left this son with a family by the name of Jewell and the son later took the name of Jewell. Oscar Irving, who had been left in Mich with the Tade family, was adopted by them and took the name of Tade. He was known as Irving Peebles Tade.
After the death of Charlotte, David went to Texas where he taught school. Mrs. E.G. Peebles has his Teacher's Certificate dated 28 Feb 1872. He decided after a time to enter the ministry and traveled to Dudley, N.C. to attend school for this purpose. Here he met Anna M. Sackett who had taken they name Day from her adopted parents. David m. Anna (Sackett) Day in Dudley, NC and made plans to homestead in Jackson, Ala, but while in Dudley, Anna gave birth to a dau, Anna Lillian Peebles, on 9 Aug 1879 and the mother died, leaving Rev. David a widower for the 2nd time.

After the death of this 2nd wife, Rev. David Peebles went to New York, he met and m. for the 3rd time, to Alice M. Conley and they went to Utah and later to Calif., where Rev. David settle as an active minister.
As his health failed, he retired from the ministry and became interested in the Temperance movement in San Francisco and was active in it. His wife, Alice, was working as an Indian Matron and Rev. David Peebles wanted to go to the Soldier's Home to live. He continued to print up messages for the Temperance movement until his death in Sawtelle in 1913.
