      From the newspaper The Burrton Graphic, Friday, February, 19, 1897;

      "Died at his home five miles southwest of Burrton, February, 12, 1897, Thomas Greenfield, aged 78 years. Father Greenfield was born in Highland County, Ohio, April 17, 1818. He migrated to Indiana in 1837, where he married Miss Eliza Sackett, July 5, 1840. He came to Kansas and located in Harvey County in 1882, where he has since resided.
      He united with the M. E. Church in 1853 and was a member of that church until 1864, then he united with the Christian church, of which he was a devoted member until his death. He was a member of the Masonic Order since 1855.
      The funeral services were conducted at his residence by the writer, after which a large concourse of people followed his remains to the Star cemetery, where the Masonic Order laid him away with a very impressive ceremony.
      He leaves, to mourn his departure, a wife and four children, two daughters and two sons. He is dead to mortality but alive to the pleasures, joys and beauties of immortality. (writer G. C. Ardery)"
