Hi Thurmon,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly and in such detail.
First, I need to make a correction. The source book I reference is Dwight Smith, ?Ralph Smith of Hingham an Eastham, Mass. And His Descendants? (New York: Tobias A. Wright, Printer and Publisher, 1913)
My Sackett ancestor was Maria Sacket (1798-1882) your #34708 [TCS Note: Now merged with #22378]
Her husband was Harvey Smith (1796-1876) your #34707
Harvey Smith was son of Dr. Amos Smith (1747-1807) your #34768
This makes Amos Smith Maria Sacket?s father-in-law.
The Dwight Smith book has some interesting text on Amos Smith as a militia man and as an outspoken participant in town meeting. The findagrave.com website says he was at Valley Forge and infers that he was called up in April 1775.
In the past, online, I have found records of when the unit was called up and marched to Boston in 1781.
On my original question, I?ll have to check with my relatives on what they?d like to do, but I think we might ask to update two recent generations.
My other question is whether or not it is possible to link this Maria Sacket to other Sackets or Sacketts in the your data base? And is the difference between one and two ?t?s important?
Again, thank you very much for your guidance.
Sincerely,
Russ
