Obituary of George W. Boring: "George W. Boring of Clarence, who had been a sufferer for almost a year and a half, caused from a stroke of paralysis, passed away on Thursday morning of last week. George W. Boring was born April 18, 1838, near Greenfield, in Greene county, Ill. Died at his home in Clarence, Mo., Sept. 7, 1916, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 19 days. He was married to Augusta J. Reynolds at Waverly, Ill, April 5, 1864. To this union were born 9 children, 5 daughters and 4 sons, one son dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss his children, Mrs. May Garner, of Leonard, Mo.; Mrs. Clara Carroll of Dayville, Ore; Mrs. Susie Taylor of Bethany, Mo.; Mrs. Jessie Willey of Fort Smith, Ark.; Miss Emma Boring of Clarence, Mo.; J. E. Boring and Harry M. Boring of Hartford, Ark.; and Frank W. Boring of Novelty, Mo.; also 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one brother, William M. Boring of Boring, Ore. The wife of deceased preceded him in death by nearly 8 years, having died Dec. 14, 1908.
"Deceased made a profession of religion at an early age, having united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of 13 years. He lived a devoted Christian life to the time of his death. He had been a member of the Masonic lodge for 57 years.
"George Boring came to Shelby County, Mo., in 1872 and had ever since made that his home, making him a resident of that county for 44 years. He was one of Shelby county's best citizens, a quiet, unassuming man, honest and upright in all his dealings and true to his friends, who deeply regret the loss of this good man and extend to the family their heartfelt sympathy."

George W. Boring, a Pioneer Citizen Died Thursday.
The death of George W. Boring, occurred at his home in this city on Thursday, Sept. 7th. He was one of the pioneer citizens, having lived in CIarence for thirty years. Eighteen months ago he received a stroke of paralysis and there was onIy from 4 to 5 months after which that he was able to be up. During the few months that he was able to be out of the house he came up town two days and paid a short visit to relatives at Brookfield and Cherry Box. On last Christmas day he received his second stroke of paralysis and has since that time been an invalid and received the constant and affectionate care of his only daughter and child at home, Miss Emma, who gave up her position with the Balsher Dept. store at the time he received his first paralytic stroke.
Geo. W. Bering was born April 18th, 1838, in Greene county, near Greenfield, Ill., died in Clarence Mo., Sept. 7th, 1916, aged 78 years, four months and nineteen days. He was married to Augusta J. Reynolds in Waverly, Ill., April 5th, 1864. To this union were born nine children, five girls and four boys, all oi whom survive to mourn their loss with the exception of one boy who died in infancy. They are Mrs. May Garner, Leonard, Mo., Mrs. Clara Carroll, Dayville, Oregon; Mrs. Susie Taylor, Bethany, Mo.; Mrs. Jessie Willey, Fort Smith, Ark., Miss Emma Boring of this city, J. E. Boring and Harry M. Boring of Hartford, Ark., and Frank W. Boring of Novelty, Mo. He leaves one brother, William II Boring, of Boring, Oregon, twelve grand children and three great grand children. His wife preceded him to the great beyond Dec. 14, 1908.
He made a profession of religion at the age of 13 years and united with the Methodist church and lived a devoted christian life until death. He was a member of the Masonic lodge for 53 years, having been raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in Greenfield, Ill., in [year not clear].
His membership was transferred to the Clarence lodge in Feb. 1875. He was a faithful number and regular in attendance when healtn permitted. He moved to Shelby County, Mo., in March 1872 and settled near Leonard Mo., but afterward moved to Clarence, making his home in Shelby County for forty four years.
His funeral was held at the Center Street Methodist church, Saturday, Sept, 9th, at ten o'clock a. m., conducted by Rev. Yount, of Macon. The remains were in charge of the A. F. and A. M. Lodge. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery.
Three sisters and one brother were not able to attend the funeral.
