54 Lois Alling's husband, Enos Atwater, was a son of Jacob, and in the Revolutionary War, where he lost his health and died at the age of 52 years. His son Amzi, was a surveyor and went to Ohio in 1796 with Moses Cleveland (from whom that city was named), and spent four seasons surveying in the States of Ohio and New York, when he located and settled at Mantua, O., thirty miles southeast of Cleveland. After his father's death he returned to Connecticut and took his mother home with him, where she lived about thirty-three years. His three younger sisters accompanied them, where they married, prospered and have left a creditable and influential posterity.
