Sheryl Schaefer
1944-2003
BLOOMINGTON -- Sheryl Ann Schaefer, 59, of Bloomington, a native of Streator and aunt of two Streator residents, died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Funeral Home.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Born Feb. 11, 1944, in Streator, she was the daughter of Willard and Beverly Jean (Southwick) Bruhns. She married Dale Schaefer on Feb. 25, 1965. He died July 2, 1970.
Surviving are a son, Jeff (Denise) Schaefer of Normal; two granddaughters; a niejpe, Connie (Mrs. Mike) Casey of Streator; nephews, Brian Bruhns of Streator, and Mike Bruhns of Chillicothe; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Eugene Bruhns.
She worked in customer service for Country Companies and was a salesman for KBL in Bloomington and Peoria and Lazyboy in Bloomington.
Memorials may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Eugene Bruhns
1941-1998
Eugene W. Bruhns, 56, of 219 11th St., died at 5:40 a.m. June 4, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Monts, of Central Church of Christ, will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger and Larry Schell, Emmett Cave, Bruce Glos, Larry Runyon and Donnie Trainor.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born Sept. 16, 1941, in Streator, he was the son of Willard and Beverly (Southwick) Bruhns. He married Betty J. Easley on Sept. 6, 1963. She died May 7, 1994.
He is survived by his mother, of Bloomington; sons, Brian and Michael Bruhns, both of Streator; a daughter, Connie (Mrs. Mike) Casey of Streator; four grandchildren; and a sister, Sheryl Schaeffer of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Company in 1997.

Bruhns Beverly Bruhns

Beverly Jean Bruhns, 78, of 34 Troy Court, Bloomington, formerly of Streator, died at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000. at Heritage Manor of Bloomington.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Solon & Baker Funeral Home.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Brian and Michael Bruhns, Connie Casey and Jeffrey Schaefer.
Born March 10, 1921, in Streator, she was a daughter of Herbert and Rose Mabel (Decker) Southwick. She married Willard Bruhns on Nov. 7, 1940. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1951.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheryl Schaefer of Bloomington; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Eugene W. Bruhns; and a sister, Betty Harding.
She retired from Owens-Ilhnois Glass as a selector.
She resided at 219 W. 11th St. Streator prior to moving to Bloomington in 1981.

Miss Bruhns Married To Dale Schaefer, Saybrook
SAYBROOK (PNS) -- Miss Sheryl Bruhns, daughter of Mrs. Beverly Bruhns of Streator, and the late Willard Bruhns, was united in marriage to Pvt. Dale Schaefer, son of the Otto Schaefers of rural Saybrook, at 1 p.m., Wednesday at the Methodist parsonage in Saybrook.
The Rev. Eugene Kerrick officiated at the ceremony and Mrs. Bernard Thacker and John Schaefer, sister and brother of the the bridegroom, served as attendants. Parents of the bridegroom were guests.
The bride wore a white imported lace dress with a corsage of red roses. Her attendant wore a beige brocade dress.
A reception for the couple was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thacker following the ceremony.
The bride is empkned by General Electric in Bloomington. and he is serving with U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Gordon, Georgia.

Streator Native Killed
Dale O. Schaefer, 24, Saybrook, husband of the former Sheryle Bruhns, a native of Streator, was killed instantly in a two-vehicle crash Thursday near Kankakee.
He was a passenger in a car driven by George Lawrence Blythe, 46, Arrowsmith, who was also killed. Three other passengers remain hospitalized. They were all employes of a petroleum company en route to work.
The accident happened at 7:25 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois 17 and a road seven miles west of Kankakee. Blythe's auto collided with a dump truck driven by Ferdinand Naese, 70, Kankakee. Naese was ticketed for failure to yield the right-of-way while making a turn.
Services for Mr. Schaefer will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stensel funeral home in Saybrook, with Rev. Dean L. Benton officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Saybrook.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
Born in Saybrook, Oet. 20, 1943, he was a son of Otto and Lois (Pulsipher) Schaefer. He married Sheryle Bruhns in Saybrook Feb. 23, 1966.
Surviving are his wife; parents; a son, Jeffrey, at home; three sisters: Mrs. Wayne Hiles, Bourbonnais; Mrs. William Mosson, Saybrook; Mrs. Bernard Thacker, Peotoria; two brothers: John and Lawrence, Saybrook.
